Following the recent changes in Coronavirus restrictions from 2nd December, the position regarding funerals is set out below.

We are continuing to carry out funerals as required. However, we are generally arranging funerals either by phone or skype rather than meeting with you in person.

You can contact us by phone on 01825 760601 or 01273 488121

We are open to personal callers by appointment only at the current time.

From 2nd December, East and West Sussex and Brighton & Hove are in Tier 2 High Alert, and Kent is in Tier 3 Very High Alert.

In Tier 2: funerals can go ahead with restrictions on numbers of attendees – 30 people can attend funeral ceremonies, and 15 people can attend linked commemorative events such as wakes or stone settings.

For wakes, hospitality businesses selling food or drink for consumption on their premises are required to provide table service only. Staff should serve all food and drinks to minimise customer self-service, in line with the guidance for restaurants, pubs, bars and takeaway services and attendees should remain seated in hospitality settings. Seating arrangements should follow social distancing guidance, meaning social distancing is maintained between different households (including any support bubbles). Businesses are required to maintain an appropriate distance between tables occupied by people who are not in the same qualifying group (i.e. a group from the same household, or from 2 linked households), which must be at least 2 metres, or if certain COVID-19 security measures are in place, at least 1 metre.

In Tier 3: funerals can go ahead with restrictions on numbers of attendees – 30 people can attend funeral ceremonies, and 15 people can attend linked commemorative events such as stone settings.
Hospitality settings, such as bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants are closed. If you are travelling to a Tier 2 area to attend a funeral you must continue to abide by the Tier 3 regulations whilst there.

In all Tiers:

At the funeral service, those living within the same household or support bubble may sit together, but a distance of at least 2 metres must be kept between all other people.

At the Crematorium, the coffin will generally be carried in before the mourners enter the chapel. It is not permitted for mourners to touch or kiss the coffin, or to place flowers upon it. Floral tributes delivered to our office in advance will still be allowed, but crematoriums are requesting that these are limited to one or two.

Crematorium can generally offer a webcast of the funeral to allow family and friends to watch the service either live, or at a later time. We will arrange this for you, and advise you of the crematorium fees depending on the options chosen.

We are now able to provide our limousine service for a maximum of three passengers only to ensure social distancing with our drivers.

If you have any queries do please get in touch and we will be glad to help you.
