Fairtrade coffins

Our colleagues at Ecoffins ( www.ecoffins.co.uk ) are helping us to celebrate Fair Trade fortnight.

We are featuring one of their Pandanus fairtrade coffins in our window display in Lewes High Street, together with lots of info and details of their lovely coffins.

For two weeks each year, over Fair Trade Fortnight, thousands of individuals, companies and groups across the UK come together to share the stories of the people who grow our food and drinks and who grow the cotton in our clothes, people who are often exploited and underpaid.

All of the Ecoffins range are 100% natural and biodegradable with no plastic, metal, screws or staples used in their construction.  The materials used are carefully chosen for their sustainability as well as the low impact their cropping has on the surrounding environment.  Due to clever “Russian Doll” style packing even the bamboo coffins shipped from China use no more fuel on their voyage from the Far East to the UK than a five mile car journey.
